Adonis Georgiades was born in Athens, on 11-06-1972. He is the youngest son of Athanasios and Paraskevi Georgiades and has two older brothers, Leonidas and Alexandros. He graduated from the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and, more specifically, from the Faculty of History and Archaeology. He is married to Eugenia Manolides and they have two sons, Athanasios-Perseas and Alkaios-Anastasios.
He served his military service as reservist Sergeant in the 23rd Armed Brigade, in Alexandroupoli.
Since 1993, after the death of his parents, he has taken over the management of “GEORGIADIS-LIBRARY OF THE GREEKS” publications. To date, under his management, approximately 1,000 books have been published, mostly translations of ancient and byzantine Greek authors, as well as studies on the timeless Greek culture.
In 1994, he founded the Liberal Studies Centre “HELLENIKI AGOGI” (Hellenic Education), with a view to teaching the ancient Greek language with an original method, both to adults and primary school children. In the same Centre, he teaches the course of Greek history himself.
From 1998 to 2001, in collaboration with journalist, Costas Chountas, he was the co-manager of the Radio Station “HERODOTUS 107.4”.
Since 2000, he has been hosting a daily television programme under the title HELLENIC EDUCATION on Blue Sky TV channel. He had hosted the same programme for a year on Ant1 Pacific for Australia and on Ant1 Sat for the U.S.A. From 2003 to 2011, he hosted the daily programme, “HELLENON EGERSIS” (Waking of the Greeks) on TELEASTY TV channel with his brother, Leonidas.
He is the editor and manager of two monthly magazines dedicated to the promotion of the timeless Greek culture, “HELLENIKI AGOGI” (Hellenic Education) and “HELLENON HISTORIA” (History of the Greeks).
In addition to the books he has published, he has written three books himself. The first is the “GUIDE TO ANCIENT GREEK COINS’, a book that has been re-published 6 times and was in fact taught for three years in the Department of Archaeology of the University of Ioannina. The second book is entitled: “HOMOSEXUALITY IN ANCIENT GREECE: THE MYTH COLLAPSING”. This book, which is also published in English, has had more than 15,000 sales and is considered top of its kind. His last personal book is a historical novel, around the capture of Konstantinoupolis, entitled “THEODORA FRANTZI: THE CAPTURE”. It is now being published for the third time.
For 6 years, he was the vice-president of the biggest Hellenic Pontic Association, “Captain Euclid” of Acharnes, together with Pavlos Gerontidis and Babis Cholidis.
From December 2003 to August 2007, he was appointed as the spokesman of the political party “L.A.O.S”.
He took part in the National Elections of 2004, where he was elected first in the second constituency of Athens, with 10,000 votes, in the slate of LA.O.S. He was elected Member of Parliament in the second constituency of Athens, in the National Elections of September 16th, 2007, doubling his personal votes to 20,000. In the National Elections of 2009, he was reelected with 30,000 votes, taking anew the first place in the second constituency of Athens with LA.O.S.
In the Local Elections of October 2006, he was a candidate Prefect of Athens, with LA.O.S., and he was elected Prefectural Councilor.
In the Regional Elections of November 2010, he was the Head of the political group “ATTIKI ODOS” supported by LA.O.S. He was elected Regional Councilor and took part in the Finance Committee of the Region of Attica.
He participated in the Standing Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs of the Parliament, and he represented the party in the National Dialogue on Education, the Committee on Greeks Abroad and the Commission for the migration issue.
He was the Secretary of the Central Committee of the political party “LA.O.S” and its Executive Office.
On November 11, 2011, during the Lucas Papadimos Government, he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Maritime Affairs and Greek Shipping. On February 11, 2012, he resigned from his parliamentary seat. On February 13, 2012, he was expelled from the Parliamentary Group of LA.O.S. as he voted in favour of “Memorandum ΙΙ”, deviating from the party’s general guideline.
On February 17, 2012, he joined the political party “Nea Demokratia”, having resigned from his parliamentary seat.
In the National Elections of June 2012, he was elected Member of Parliament of Nea Demokratia in the second constituency of Athens.
On June 25, 2013, he was appointed as Minister of Health in the Government of Antonis Samaras.
In the National Elections of January 25th, 2015, he was reelected and reappointed as Member of Parliament of Nea Demokratia in the second constituency of Athens, with 73,959 votes.
In the National Elections of September 20th, 2015, he was reelected and reappointed as Member of Parliament of Nea Demokratia in the second constituency of Athens.
In September 28, Adonis Georgiadis announced his candidacy for the Presidency of Nea Demokratia.
In December 22, the first round of the intraparty elections was ended, Adonis Georgiadis has obtained 46.065 votes, 11,4%.
In January 18 2016, Adonis Georgiadis was appointed one of the two Vice Presidents of the Nea Demokratia by the decision of the new President of Nea Demokratia, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
